Union Presbyterian Church

Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh was ordained in the Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery in October, 2005.   She earned her MDiv from Colombia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.   Throughout her ministry, Rev. Cavanaugh has enjoyed working with all ages.   She has directed preschool VBS in Galena, served as a youth director for middle school youth in St. Louis and for both middle and high school youth in Atlanta.   She has served as a chaplain for patients in the oncology, palliative care, and neurology units, as a worship leader in nursing homes in both St. Louis and Galena, and as a solo pastor for the past 11+ years at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Galena.

Within the community, Rev. Cavanaugh has been active at the Galena food pantry and special feeding programs working specifically with children and families who are food insecure.   She worked with the Apple Tree school supplies program, coordinated a free tutoring program for elementary school students who need additional academic support, volunteered on her day off in the elementary school English Language Learners (ELL) classroom, and served as the interim President of the local Parents and Teachers association at the elementary school.     Rev. Cavanaugh likes to go on “Cavanaugh Family Adventures” with her husband David and daughter Maureen.  To relax, Rev. Cavanaugh likes to read, walk with her friends and family, and do jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku.
