Jesse Larson, our pastor, is originally from upstate New York – near Buffalo, though he now claims the Midwest as home.  Jesse’s dad, brother, sister-in-law and uncle are all Presbyterian pastors, so he’s quite familiar with church camp, retreats, potlucks and predestination.  As an undergrad, Jesse studied cultural anthropology at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.  Jesse spent much of his twenties going back and forth to Africa – primarily Namibia and Ghana.  He frequently likes to share some of his stories of his adventures overseas.  Jesse spent four years working as the Director of Youth and Outreach for the First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo, New York.  He enjoyed working with a diverse and crazy group of urban teenagers, as well as many Sudanese refugees.

After graduating from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois in 2008, Jesse became the campus minister and interim associate pastor at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames, Iowa.  He became the pastor of Union Presbyterian Church in September of 2013.  He enjoys the friendly people of UPC and their open-mindedness, the cheese that is present at all Monroe functions, and he looks forward to sharing this journey together.

Lisa Hale is a long-time Monroe native and lifelong Wisconsin resident.  She joined the staff of UPC in December 2009 as the Administrative Assistant.  Lisa loves interacting with all those who come through our doors and is often busy with phone calls, the weekly bulletin, our Union Press newsletter, obtaining office supplies, etc. Lisa is married and has four children and four grandchildren. Lisa enjoys cooking and trying new recipes, music, reading, her job, and travel.  She’s a Huge Packer and Badger fan and feels fortunate to have been to three Green Bay Packer games!  She also enjoys playing cribbage, but most of all, she loves spending time and enjoying life with her family and friends.
