In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
Children are a great blessing in our lives and we are always happy to have there as a part of our church. When we baptize babies and children in our churches, we also promise to raise them in the faith. This is a profoundly important promise we make as we know that building a strong foundation of faith in the lives of our children will help to provide them with a moral compass, and to make their lives more meaningful and more hopeful. Throughout the school year, we offer Sunday School classes for pre-school aged children through elementary school aged kids (middle schoolers and high schoolers attend our youth group on Sunday nights). Our basement was completely renovated in 2013, so it is a lovely, clean, and safe space which we love using.
Recently, we have begun a new format for Sunday school – if we have a few children, then there is Sunday school that happens during worship (during the time of the sermon). The kids hear a Bible story, they discuss it, do an art project and then enjoy a snack.
