Who would have thought that there would be a percussion ensemble in a Presbyterian church in the middle of rural Wisconsin?! Well, we are happy to declare that Union Presbyterian Church offers a wonderful African Drum ensemble that doesn’t sound too shabby and is a lot of fun!
This ensemble is open to folks of all ages. No prior training is necessary. Our teacher, Sarah Bodell, teaches music at a local elementary school and is patient to work with our rhythmically-challenged group. She studied West African drumming with a drummer from Ghana, and she constantly has a great supply of fun beats for us to work on. We share our pieces in worship about every other month; and we perform as an ensemble, and sometimes we provide support for the choir.
Typically, we have practice on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at our church. If you are interested in joining us, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Come and check us out and join in the fun!
